Fiordland Park National Lodge

PAST PROJECT

Our client was considering the purchase of Fiordland National Park Lodge which at the time offered two levels of accommodation to choose from, motel units and backpacker dorms and private rooms. Facilities include a shop, travel desk, guest laundry, internet, and car parking for guests walking the Milford Track.

A full business and feasibility plan was undertaken. With the forecasted tourism growth numbers to the Southland/Fiordland region and the current lack of supply of accommodation supply to the market in peak periods presented at opportunity to grow the market share and profile of Fiordland National Park Lodge.

The unique and picturesque nature of the property and it’s location delivered a strong baseline to the operation and future success of the business although considering the property has not received any type of refurbishment in a long period of time and the dwindling occupancy rates a strong return on investment was uncertain.

The client did not go through with this purchase. The property remained on the market for a number of years and after selling is now closed for business.
